Move It or Lose It are chair based exercise classes which work on maintaining and improving flexibility, aerobic health, balance and strength. Movements can also be carried out standing if you feel able. Whilst aimed at older people, everyone is welcome.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- Your physical health will benefit; you may feel stronger, more mobile and generally have more confidence in your body
- Having a regular class to attend can be a good motivator and proactively taking care of your body can boost your morale
- Sessions offer a chance to connect with others and enjoy a sense of community: The teacher, Jo, nurtures a fun and sociable atmosphere
‘I come to class even if I’m in pain, because it always makes me feel better‘

What to Expect
You should wear comfortable clothes and supportive shoes. It is a good idea to take a water bottle with you when exercising. Classes take place in the main hall, Jo will greet you when you arrive and help you settle in a spot for the class to start. Most participants remain seated for the majority of the class and Jo can adapt exercises to suit varying abilities. You will be guided through each movement to make sure you are kept safe whilst challenging yourself to improve over time.
After each session, there is an opportunity to socialise in the on-site cafe and Jo says “Only laughter is compulsory!”.
