This service is accessed via referral from your GP, midwife or health visitor. The perinatal mental health team support those experiencing symptoms of mental illness in pregnancy and during the first year after birth including:
*Postpartum psychosis is a sudden and severe mental illness that begins in the first few days or weeks after having a baby. If you have concerns that you, or someone you know, is experiencing postpartum psychosis you should seek immediate, same day support.
If you need support with your mental health, remember you can always reach out to your GP. If you need urgent help, please call the First Response Service on the NHS 111 helpline and select option 2.
