Burwell and District Day Centre

Back to Activities

Burwell and District Day Centre is a place for people to meet, chat, have a cuppa and enjoy a range of activities. In addition, they serve a hot lunch with a delivery option for those preferring to have it at home.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Social interactions can help you feel more alert, happy and valued; spending time in the company of others is important for morale.
  • Making connections in your local community  can contribute to your contentment in the place where you live.
  • Trying new things is great for keeping our brains active plus learning can boost our confidence.

What to Expect

When you arrive for one of the daily sessions, you will enter by the main door at the front of the building. The foyer has doors straight in to the main room where there is a book for signing in and someone will greet you so that you know where to sit & how to get a hot drink if you’d like one. Sometimes peoples just sit around and chat, there are various board games available and two days a week some kind of entertainment ranging from making ceramics to sing-alongs to seated yoga.

There is parking to the side of The Day Centre and some on-street parking but it is limited so those who are able are encouraged to come on foot. The building has accessibility ramps to both the front and side entrances and there are fully accessible toilets on-site. Staff are trained to support with some mobility needs but cannot help with personal or medical care.

More Information

Burwell Day Centre has been running for over 30 years and was purpose built, and later extended,  to serve the village’s over 55 population.

There is a hot lunch prepared daily, Mon-Fri, which people can either have at The Centre or ask to have delivered to them at home. These meals are reasonably priced and have a reputation locally for being tasty and nutritious . The meals on wheels service prefers people to order ahead as food is prepared fresh each day.

If you would like to get involved in a different way, The Day Centre is grateful for volunteering offers; take a look at the volunteering page on their website and use the contact button there to enquire or call the main telephone number.

Members pay an affordable annual fee and then each time they attend a day session they can choose between a basic charge for refreshments through out the day including a cup-a-soup for lunch, or pay a little more to include a 2 course hot lunch.
