Fordham Recreation Field and Play Area

Back to Activities

Fordham Recreation Field is a public space for outdoor sports, games and walking. There is a fenced play area for young children, an area for dogs and a skatepark.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Spending time outside is good for you. This space is accessible by all and central to the village so is an easy option for a stroll at any time
  • The play area is fenced so is a safe place for children to explore and develop their physical skills
  • Some villagers use the field regularly and so there are opportunities for social connection

More Information

Fordham Recreation Field is central to the village and accessed via a short lane to the right of Victoria Hall and the memorial garden. There is ample parking, a public toilet (no baby changing or accessible facilities) and plenty of picnic tables and benches.

The toilets are on the left immediately as you enter the carpark. The children's playpark is further in, also on the left and is fenced to keep smaller children safe. Behind it is the skatepark. You will find the extensive open playing fields immediately in front of you and to the far right, behind the bowls club, is an enclosed area for exercising dogs.

All these facilities are free to use at any time although at weekends there may be sports matches taking place, meaning parking may be limited and it is essential that dogs are controlled and children closely supervised.
