Free Group Dog Walks in East Cambs

Back to Activities

These dog walking groups are free to join and offer planned meet-ups with other well-behaved dogs and their owners. Locations and distances vary.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Spending time outdoors is a great mood-booster
  • Finding common ground, the love of your pets, makes connecting with others easier and joining a dog walking group can offer social opportunities which will benefit you in many ways including a sense of belonging, improved cognitive function and lowering your risk of chronic diseases.
  • Moving your body is really important for overall wellbeing and attending an agreed meet-up is a good motivator to get you up and out the door, making it more likely you'll follow through with plans.

More Information

Ely Dogs Activity Meadows, with Developing Dogs, Fridays at 6pm, book here just to let them know to expect you. Join this free Wellbeing Walk for company, fresh air and a dose of the outdoors. You can bring your dog but solo humans are also welcome. All dogs stay on their leads as you stroll around 20 acres of fields including ponds, trees and open spaces. There are toilet facilities on-site plus water for the dogs. Some people bring a drink and snack with them. Walk at your own pace. This route is not accessible for wheelchair users or those who find uneven ground a challenge.

Developing Dogs also offer one-off bookings for their activity field, a social club with weekly meet-ups and bespoke training sessions (these services do have an associated cost).

Ben's Yard Social Dog Walks, meeting on the  first Monday of each month at 10am, no need to book. Embark on a free furry adventure with Ben's Social Dog Walks! Attendees gather outside of the café where there is water available for your pups. Dogs must be on their lead for this stroll around the estate lasting approximately 1 hour. Some of the group stay for refreshments at Amelie Cafe afterwards (dogs welcome, of course!). Check event details and find out about other events at Ben's Yard here.

Ely Walking Group is not dog-specific (so there's no guarantee of doggy friends on every walk), but they do welcome well-behaved dogs on their fortnightly meet-ups. This is a good option for dog lovers looking for a longer walking route. It is free to attend but you will need to join the local Time Outdoors group here. The group meet in a variety of locations, once you join you'll receive information about where and when to meet. Circular walks are around 6-8 miles with a short break half way around and often a pub stop at the end. Walks are alternate Sundays, starting around 10am.
