Libraries in East Cambs

Back to Activities

Libraries offer a wide range of services including wellbeing activities, information, free PCs and internet access, study space, books to borrow and online resources. You will receive a warm welcome from knowledgeable staff and find a calm, welcoming environment.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Reading helps us to unwind and to connect to the wider world. Libraries have a wealth of physical and digital resources to help you read for pleasure, learning and research
  • They can help you navigate and access good quality health information and signpost you to further resources and support
  • Libraries can connect you to your community through their events, activities and even volunteering

'It is almost a 'hub' where people can come for any kind of information and, even if an issue cannot be solved there, the librarians can signpost you to somewhere more relevant. It is a wonderful free service where everyone really cares about the customers and their jobs. I feel really safe at my library and I am really grateful we have them in our communities."

What to Expect?

If you’d like to join the libraries simply approach one of the friendly staff wearing a green lanyard and they can help you to do so. You don’t need to bring any documentation and the simple process only takes about 5 minutes. Your card can then be used at any Cambridgeshire library.  You can also join online by clicking here.

As well as the lending library for books and other media, there are plenty of local resources and information about what groups and activities are coming up – these vary from branch to branch so take a look at your local library from the list below:

Bottisham Community Library (access point within the village college)

Haddenham Independent Library

Little Downham Book Cafe

Littleport Library

Soham Library
