MHA East Cambs Communities offers social groups for those living locally who are 65 and over. From arts and crafts to pub lunches and more specialist support for carers and those living with dementia. Our aim is to enable people to live later life well, and reduce loneliness.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- Joining groups and spending time with others reduces the risk of loneliness; rekindling old friendships and making new ones
- MHA offers choices and listens to it members – Sessions are organised based on what people want and because feedback is welcomed, people are given a voice which can help them feel valued and empowered
- The venue offers door to door transport to those with mobility issues, living within a five mile radius. So for people who may have limited options, MHA sessions are always accessible meaning more choice, less worry and reduced isolation
“I don’t know what I’d do without you”
“My Mum has stopped crying all the time since she started to come to the sessions”
