The Hangar Men’s Shed, Littleport

Back to Activities

The Hangar Men's Shed is a group of men who meet regularly to make things, design things, mend things and support each other in whatever projects they wish. Collectively they share skills, tools, ideas and a listening ear!

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Social interactions can help you feel more valued and secure. Some men find it easier to forge friendships in a male only environment.
  • Finding common ground, such as a shared hobby, is great for getting conversations started.
  • Being creative and trying new things can be confidence-boosting and is great for brain health.

What to Expect

The Men’s Shed meet once a week, contact Nigel Ovens by email or phone to let him know you’re planning to attend and he’ll also be glad to answer any questions you might have. You can take along any projects you’d like to work on, or just turn up and see what it’s all about. Existing members will be glad to talk about what they’re doing and involve you in what they’re working on.

More Information

The Hangar Men’s Shed in Littleport is a member of the UK Men’s Sheds Association who say ‘Connection, conversation and creation – that’s what joining a Men’s Shed is all about.’

The Hangar was founded by a group of local retired men which means it still meets within traditional working hours. However, men of all ages are very welcome to join them if they can.

There is an annual membership fee, currently £20, and members pay a small fee each time they attend a session. This includes the use of any shared tools. You are welcome to pay for a single session to try before becoming a member; mention this to Nigel when you first contact him.

Occasionally, additional activities will incur an additional fee.
