BigDeal – Gambling Support for Young People

Back to Support

BigDeal is a place for young people (age 11+) to find information and support related to gambling, either for themselves or for someone they care about.

Rod talks about what BigDeal does and how it can help:

It is estimated around 4% (160,000) of young people aged 11-16 years old are struggling significantly or at risk of struggling with gambling.

BigDeal supports children and teenagers, from 11 years up. You might be here to get the facts about gambling and find out how it can become harmful, or maybe you are worried about your own gambling, or someone else’s.

In addition to talking to someone on the phone, their website has a live online chat service, open 24 hours a day.

Find out more about gambling – what it is, how it works, the risks, and what to do if you are worried about your own gambling or the gambling of someone close to you. Includes information about things you might not realise are gambling, like ‘loot boxes’ and ‘social gaming’.

Worried about someone else’s gambling? For a lot of people, an occasional bet can be fun, and add to the thrill of a game. But sometimes people don’t know when to call it quits, and for a few people, gambling can be addictive. If someone you are close to is gambling a lot it can be hard to deal with. Find out how BigDeal can help you.

Parents & Professionals Hub is where parents and professionals – such as teachers and youth workers – can find out more about gambling. You can also get advice and support over the phone or via live chat.

BigDeal is part of GamCare, operators of the National Gambling Helpline and the UK’s leading provider of information, support and counselling for problem gamblers and their families. Find out more here.
