Back to Support

Cambridge Dial-a-Ride provides safe, affordable transport for people who have difficulty accessing public transport due to disability, infirmity and/or age. Covering Lode, Longmeadow and Bottisham in East Cambs plus Quy just in to South Cambs.

What to expect

Cambridge Dial-a-Ride can take you to the main shopping areas in Cambridge, drive you to visit friends or relatives and to doctors or dental surgeries, health centres or to a hairdresser appointment. Many people also use the service to go to day centres or community groups.

Cambridge Dial-a-Ride offers outward and return journeys to outpatient appointments by booking an estimated return time that can often be amended on the day should you finish your appointment earlier or later.

They also regularly transport groups to social occasions and to excursions. This enables groups to visit and undertake activities they may not ordinarily be able to do.

Please note that journeys are mostly Monday to Friday with some group trips on Saturdays to places of interest such as Hunstanton and Felixstowe in the summer months.

More information

You can either choose a return or a single journey depending upon your personal plans. When you call to book a journey, you'll need to say what time you would like to travel out or to return home, and they will make every effort to offer the times you require. The telephone is normally manned Monday-Friday 9am-3pm, if you call outside of these times you can leave a message.

Cambridge Dial-a-Ride minibuses are equipped to make it easier for everybody to use them. All buses have lifts for wheelchair users and those who have difficulty using steps.

Drivers stop as near as possible to your front door so that you can wait in the comfort and safety of your home. Drivers will also help to get you safely to and from the bus, and they are happy to carry any bags you may want to take with you, or to help you carry your shopping in to your house.
