The Library at Home service brings books direct to your door. It is available to Cambridgeshire residents of any age who find it difficult to get to the library, whether due to disability, illness or caring responsibilities, on a permanent or temporary basis.

What to expect
A friendly Library at Home coordinator will visit you at home to find out more about you and your reading preferences – fiction and non-fiction. Following this initial visit, the Library at Home team will then aim to match you with a fully vetted local volunteer who will visit you approximately once a month at a time that works for you, bringing you books (including large print books), audiobooks or jigsaws. If you don’t have a library card, you’ll be set up with one free of charge.
If you are feeling sociable, you can invite your volunteer in for a chat and a cup of tea – but you are under no obligation to do this!

Self-referrals are welcome, as well as referrals from friends, family members or from professionals. You can do this via email, by visiting your local library or filling out and posting the form on this webpage.
If you’d like to be a Library at Home volunteer, contact the team on the email address provided or pop in to your local library. A Disclosure and Barring Service check will need to be carried out.
This service is free. You can borrow up to 24 items at a time. There are no overdue charges on loans either.
